Krohm International Ltd. in Independence, Missouri, US (United States)

In the mid-60's, IBM introduced the S/360, which became extremely popular. This started a period in time in which IBM would almost 70% of the marketplace. Obviously, it was not a system to be ignored. The basic unit of the 360 was an 8-bit byte. 

Introduction Krohm International Ltd., based in Independence, Missouri (USA), is a software development firm founded in 1973 by industry veteran Gary Krohm. Our firm specializes in developing cross-media database publishing applications for Print, CD-ROM and the Web. 

The completed system was then used in the start-up of Exchange Graphics and Access Composition Services, new subsidiaries of Messenger Corporation. Next: 1975 

1980 Like many companies, we jumped on a band-wagon slightly outside our area of expertise and consulted/managed the production of 4 computer-aided instruction packages at Educulture, Inc. Irvine, California. These CAI packages were targeted to community-college users. 

The IBM 1620 was introduced in 1961. The main console is on the left and contained 20K of heated, magnetic core, decimal memory. An additional 20K of memory was contained in the memory unit on the upper right, and one more 20K unit could be added. The IBM1622 card/read/punch is on the lower right.
