This site is privately supported reference providing information of interest to the land surveyor (also known as the Cadastral Surveyor) involved in the preservation and retracement of the Public Land Survey System (PLSS) in the United States. The term Cadastral, in the U.S. 

Cooperative work between Cadastral Survey of the Bureau of Land Management and the University of Maine has resulted in development of an integrated Measurement Management software system specific to retracement cadastral surveys in the U.S. Public Land Survey System. 

The problem of computing a riparian median line is one that most surveyors rarely encounter. If, however, you are fortunate enough to work on such a problem, you quickly find that it is one of the more labor intensive analytical computation processes in surveying. 

The Bureau of Land Management is responsible for the collection and maintenance of the Geographic Coordinate Data Base (GCDB). This is collection of all survey and coordinate records in the U.S. 

The idea of using coordinates to restore lost or obliterated corners has been a frequent topic of discussion within the surveying community however little has been written on the subject.
